I am the third of six children born to migrant farm workers. Growing up in a farming family taught me the importance of hard work and the value of education. nnI went to public schools in Tucson and earned my BA and MBA from the University of Arizona. I later earned a Doctorate in Education from George Washington University. nnI served as President Obama’s Assistant Secretary of the Army until 2014.n nI’m running because we need a representative who shares the progressive values we cherish in southern Arizona.
